Using solution component mover in D365 CRM.

Hello Guys,

In our previous blog we have seen how to use command button for opening a quick create form. Today we will see how to use solution component mover in D365 CRM.

Do follow us to know more about Dynamics and Power Platform. Also if you like our blog then please comment and share this blog with your friends.

Consider a scenario where you are working in one of the organization's project along with your colleagues or other CRM developer. You have been assigned a task or DevOps or Jira where you have to develop some new functionality.

Also other developers have been assigned some other task or DevOps where they are developing or implementing some functionality using CRM.

To distinguish one another's task you might create solutions where you are putting your CRM components.

Now once development is done and you all have to move your components on target environment for further process. In this case all the developers having various solutions that needs to be move.

Microsoft D365 CRM allows you to use one tool of  XRM Toolbox which can help you to combine all the solutions into one single solution for next environment movement.

Let's see how to use this tool.

As you can see we have created two solutions named DevOps2205 and DevOps2206 which is used by two different developers.

Now we want to deploy our changes to SIT environment. So we have created one more solution named Blogger_SIT_Release_Jan2024.

Now we want all the developers should add their components and changes to this solution so that on target environment we can have only single solution which holds all the components.

All the developers can add the component manually. Currently we have less component and that's why its easy task. But consider a scenario where we have lots of components then its time consuming. And sometimes if developer forget some component to add then its trouble.

Microsoft Dynamics provides one tool which is available in XRM Toolbox named Solution Component Mover which can combine various solutions into one.

Let's see how to use it.

As you can see we have logged in to XRM Tool Box.

Open the tool. (If tool not available then download it from tool library).

Now select the source solution(DevOps2205) and on other side select the Target solution i.e. Blogger_SIT_Relase_Jan2024 and click on Copy Components.

Do the same for DevOps2206 also.

So now we have added our components from both the solution to a single solution as shown below:

This solution we can deploy to target environment.

Hope it helps...
